We’re thrilled to welcome Chef Dominique Macquet to our culinary leadership. Born in Mauritius, Chef Dominique brings a world of flavor—Creole, Asian, African, and Indian influences—shaped by a career that’s spanned South Africa, London, Southeast Asia, Beverly Hills, and even Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2). Along the way, he’s cooked for icons and institutions including Nelson Mandela, the White House, and the James Beard Foundation.
In New Orleans, Chef Dominique helped define contemporary dining with celebrated kitchens such as Dominique’s on Magazine, Dominique’s at the Maison Dupuy, and Tamarind, following earlier roles at Bistro at Maison de Ville, La Valencia Hotel, and Four Seasons Beverly Hills. His work has earned national attention and local acclaim, including:
- James Beard Foundation Honoree (’96, ’97, ’99, ’02)
- Chef of the Year – New Orleans Magazine (1997)
- Restaurant of the Year – New Orleans Magazine (2013)
- Best New Restaurant – Gambit, Times-Picayune, New Orleans Magazine (2011–2013)
- Features in Esquire, Bon Appétit, Wine Spectator, and Southwest Spirit highlighting him as one of America’s most innovative chefs
We’re already having a blast in the kitchen with Chef Dominique and can’t wait to share the creative energy and global inspiration he’s bringing to Messina’s—on the plate and at your next event. Stay tuned for fresh menus, bold ideas, and a whole lot of delicious.
