Messina’s Owners Represent New Orleans Small Businesses in Washington, D.C.

George and Stacey Messina recently traveled to Washington, D.C. to advocate for small business interests in the payments industry. Referred by the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce, the Messinas were selected to represent New Orleans small businesses as part of the Louisiana-Mississippi delegation supporting the Small Business Payments Alliance (SBPA).

Their visit centered around opposition to the proposed Credit Card Competition Act (also known as the Durbin-Marshall Bill), which many believe would harm small businesses by disrupting credit card payment systems and reducing consumer rewards. During their time on Capitol Hill, the Messinas met with congressional staff from the offices of Senators Kennedy, Cassidy, Wicker, and Hyde-Smith, as well as Representative Guest.
