Louisiana certainly has some special places to grab lunch or other foods, but this place really takes the cake. The Runway Cafe, found at The Terminal and operated by Messina’s, will provide you with a dining experience like no other. Let’s explore.
Have you ever eaten at a restaurant that is still being used as a small craft airport?
If you went to visit Messina’s at the Terminal, then your wish could come true. You can visit this unique destination at 6001 Stars and Stripes Blvd. at the Lakefront of New Orleans.
When Hurricane Katrina flooded this building in 2005, few knew whether this iconic building would ever come back.
But when it was announced that Messina’s would take over operations here, everyone knew it would be amazing!
This lovely and grand building is now becoming very popular for weddings and other events.
They even restored all of the original art deco murals that are found on the walls here.
This historic Art Deco marvel has been lovingly restored from top to bottom.
There are now two smaller dining areas, the Walnut Room and the Runway Cafe, that are used to serve guests.
Both of these rooms, the Runway Cafe pictured here, have some amazing retro flare that make the interiors pop.
This is one of the reasons why the Terminal is quickly becoming a very popular wedding venue in New Orleans.
While the interiors are amazing, it’s the food that keeps people coming back to this awesome locale.
The BBQ shrimp and grits here are really something special.
They make favorite Southern classics in the old style, including this redfish with corn and andouille.
All of the flavors just go perfectly into your mouth!
And the absolute best part of dining here?
You’ll have front row seats to the airplanes that take off and land in the area.
That’s right, the Lakefront Airport is still used for small planes and other kinds of cargo.
It makes for a simply amazing view as you are going to lunch.
So go ahead and plan your trip to one of the most amazing places to have lunch in the entire state.
We think you’ll be very charmed by all Messina’s at the Terminal has to offer.
